According to Sunday River's facebook, they still have snow in the park to be used as an obstacle for Saturday's Tough Mudder Challenge. Pretty impressive for late July in this season. Maybe I'll bring my skis up this weekend and see if there are any leftovers?

my local hill here in PA used to keep some snow for a summer rail jam. they'd scoop it up and store it inside the snowcat garage underneath a tarp and some hay.

It was piled onto one of the table jumps and then covered with a thermo-reflective tarp. This was the pile cover on July 4th.

Why don't they show a picture?

SR has kept the fact that they have snow for the Tough Mountain pretty quiet. It is supposed to be a surprise for the participants. The post was just a tease. In April after the park closed they pushed a giant pile of snow near where the course crosses the park and covered it. I'll see what's left tomorrow. Pics should be around tomorrow.

Couple pics of the patch from last evening, in the rain. Poor excuse for snow but it's there. Covered in dirt and rocks. It may make August as it's still about 8 feet tall and 15-20 yards long. Made a few turns but the grass skied better. You could drive right up near the patch on a work road. Best NE skiing ever for 7-23. And my only.

Ga2ski posted pictures of himself doing this on tele gear Sat am. I 'll ask him to put it here.

I hiked up a few times this summer. About a month go, when the pile got small they put a tarp on it to keep it as long a possible.
