Resort: Crotched Mountain

Conditions:
Loose Powder, on top of hard pack.

Report: What do you do when you have 5 hours to kill between a 1st grader's class breakfast and picking him up afterschool? You hop in the car, drive 49.6 miles to Crotched to ski 5 runs, grab a burger and a beer and make it home in time to get you kid from the afterschool program. Could there have been better thing I could have done or driven closer to like say Wachusett? Roads were crappy, but hell what do I care the peaks pass makes it too damn easy to hop in the car up to Francestown! Now while Wachusett may be 16 miles closer, Crotched is much more fun of a mountain with the same vertical.

Now onto the photos:

1st day out for non earned turns today at the Crotch. Glad for the new snow, as the base was somewhat solid. Even the best maintained low angle glades need some more base. Nice to be out!!

I've been meaning to go to Crotched, but it seems like they've been slow to open up trails this season. Glad you got out there.

Yeah they certainly have been slow on the trigger in terms of getting things open this season. But none the less, still happy that they are chugging along. The question is tomorrow, do I hit Gunstock or Snow? I am guessing snow will be a madhouse, so Gunstock may be better.
