Plattekill Mountain, February 24, 2007:

Introduction: Got up at about 9:00, reasonably crowded, cloudy skies.

Weapon of Choice: Option Supercap 149 [Fresh outta' PB :)]

Conditions: First run of the day was a warmup down Twist > The Cliffs, getting used to my normal board again took about half the run. Took a run down Plunge, then a run down Freefall, both nice, the later with some big powder bumps, and tons of pow laying around, especially on the sides. Lesson from 11-12 (only one of the day, got a bunch of riding in). Took a run with some friends down The Face to the park, but the landings were really icy so we headed back for the double. Took a run down Ridge Run, and hit the trees near the White Lightning fence. Great runs, some nice powder hits, and the open bike trails were amazing. Hit the same tree run again, then hit Bumps over to Switchback. Bumps had a real nice kicker over some bushes but the landing was kind of sketchy. My other friend had a lesson to teach, so I met up with a ski patrol friend and went right back up the double after lunch. Took some more woods runs, then down Twist > The Cliffs once more. They were racing on the Triple side of the mountain, and that side gets pretty boring, so we stayed on the double all day. One more run down Bumps > Blockbuster, but we missed Switchback and hit this amazing woods run that threw us out on Switchback. Nice wide open woods turns, tons of pow. Hit the same woods run again, but took a different turn and it shot us out back on Block. Another woods run over near the Twist/Overlook area, and by now our legs were pretty shot. We hit Switchback (TONS of powder all day, really nice), and the little chute off of that out onto Freefall. Did one more tree run and then called it a day.

Weather: Cold early on and cloudy, but then the sun came out and it warmed up.

Lifts: No lines in the AM, but when they were racing people came down off the triple to the double, so there was a short line there, never more than 5 or 6 chairs though.

Notes: Some bare spots are showing through on the more popular trails, where did all the snow go :???:?

Rating: 9/10

Conclusion: Sunny day, great conditions.
