Hi...new here...I was looking over the backpacking/hiking threads when I noticed the ski threads. Happy I found the site since it is new england specific so members here will be more aware of new england snow and ski conditions.
That said, I will be ski shopping next season. I'm a fairly new dad and I want to get the kid on the slopes eventually and don't want to get socked with buying everything all at once.
The last batch of skis I demo'd was two or three years ago, and I really like the dynastar intuitiv 71s. They seemed to do as they claimed--a good all terrain snow. I was short on the cash, wanted to upgrade boots too, etc., so it never happened.
I'm 6'-4" 170 lbs., 40 years old. I still ski on my now ancient Olin Extreme 205s, and I have actually extreme skied on them.
I am looking for an all-terrain, something that will handle the new england ski mts and all their varying conditions, as well as off-piste. I really like hiking mts like Cardigan and skiing down. I'm not interested in anything with a super wide waist for off piste. My extremes did fine in the deep fluffy stuff when we used to get real snow and they are narrow by today's satndards, especially at the waist. I'm not shooting off outcroppings so much anymore lol but I still love backcountry.
So, what should I take for a spin? Thanks in advance. --Jim
