PLEASE DON'T PET THE MOOSE!!!!

This PM (Friday, Nov 26th) while driving to N. Conway on Rte. 302 through Crawford Notch, we came across a gathering of vehicles and "whiteplaters" all gathered around a young moose. We even saw someone try to pet it as we drove by. If you were in this crowd, shame, otherwise:

1). Moose are wild animals and can act without any warning, so do keep your distance.

and

2). Route 302 IS NOT A ZOO so please don't pet the wild animals. Not a good idea.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here when it comes to these pointers.

We're thinking that the animal was either scared (and not moving away) or had brainworm.

as a whiteplater, i've seen several occurances along route 3 and route 16 of many cars dangerously pulled over on the side of the road and people with cameras getting out to chase down bears and moose. not only do they jeapordize their own safety, but those safe drivers that keep moving along without looking as well.

Well, knowing you from here, Rivercoil, proves that there are some "whiteplaters" who know what to do. Spread the word. Look forward to meeting you sometime on the slopes
