What i miss...

I agree with Steve that I miss all the things he mentioned as well as the following:

1. The taste of a cold beer at the end of the day.
2. The feel of a hot tub while drinking my beer.
3. The glorious pain that 9 hours of skiing brings.
4. The adrenaline rush of the 1st run.
5. The noodly feeling in my legs as I take the last run.
6. The nearly perfect sleep I get after a full day skiing.
7. The way I can forget about everything that usually brings stress into my life.

This year I especially looking forward to teaching my three year old daughter to ski. I have her already asking me "Daddy, when are we going skiing - I want to ski with you."

At 48 I can no longer hurl my body down the side of a mountain with total abandon as I once did. My knees simply cannot take the stress. My skiing is now restricted to the single Black Diamonds and the Blues.

For me, there is nothing better than being the first person on a given slope in the morning that is perfectly groomed so that I can take my time carving the snow anyway I want. I can be playful or aggressive and there is no one else around to hinder me in whatever way I wish to ski. The earlier the better.

1. My ski friends
2. The feeling of laying down huge nasty trenches on a freshly groomed run.
3. The shitty chicken wings and beer after in the lodge while telling expanded truth stories to friends.
4. Cold crisp air

The thing I miss the most is that feeling on your face after skiing a long day. It's that feeling that reminds you that you've been outside all day when so many other people have been stuck indoors.

1. Whining about the cost of cheeseburgers, whether I buy one or not!
2. Over-thinking the weather forecasts
3. Kids stumbling over me in their lodge walking in their boots. Beats kids in shorts and flipflops.
4. No place to sit in the lodge. (Guess I'll just have to ski).
5. That stash.
