Just got done reading about the upcoming Bond film. They are saying that it will be more explosive and more action packed than the previous one... I thought that Casino Royale was pretty good myself. I am getting stoked for this film...

OK, I went today and it was very, very good. For those who could not ski, THIS is worth seeing IMHO. Your reactions?

The ending was odd...but I thought it was very fast paced...intense is the word. Not quite as intense as Casino Royale I'd say, but certainly faster than the older Bonds.

Casino Royale: The Conclusion

Saw it today, good not great, not one for the library. Eh. Fight scenes were great, bad guy wasn't bad enough. One car chase in the beginning. Sex scene was mediocre. Craig is a great bond. This mediocre move will not stop me from seeing the next one. Opening song was one of the better ones in a long time.

Saw this yesterday. I found the difference in directing and writing compared to Casino to be not as good. Quantum was shot a la the "Bourne" series of fast action and lots of cut scenes with up close camera angles. The action was just too much and the plot had holes that you had to fill in for yourself and/or make assumptions. Some of the dialog went too quick... kind of a need to get back to the action. There were two car chases, one boat chases, one airplane chase, and a few foot chases. Goodness gracious! The reboot threw out "Bond, James Bond" and Bond ordering his preferred drink... why not throw out some chase scenes too as Casino did (very few chase scenes). Not much chemistry between Bond and the leading ladies.

But I nitpick too much here... it was a good film and Craig Daniels is quickly topping my list of Bonds (even better than Connery!). Philpug's subtitle of Casino Royale: The Conclusion is good but it also is a launch pad for future movies. The ending could have been sensational. But they jumped around too much. I think I got the gist but I felt like I had to read between the lines too much. Essentially, the movie tried to draw in too many elements and left a lot of stuff hanging. I think they wasted too much time with the action and chase sequences which just didn't do it for me.

This Bond is so much better than any of the previous Bond's I almost wish they renamed the character... except that it is said this Bond is more true to the original character!!! It just should not share much relationship to the last few decades of Bonds... especially the last few Brosnan Bonds (which I stopped watching because I completely lost interest). Good stuff.

Yeah, but Casino Royale had the best-ever foot chase scene at the beginning of the movie. Best Bond movie since Goldfinger & Doctor No.

Unless somebody drags me to it, I think I'll just wait for the DVD and rip a copy.

+1 totally agree, and mine's not even that elaborate. just a nicely balanced and really rich warm sound

plus the drinks are better at home

That is where I am coming from. I would rather have one or two completely unreal chase scenes than a half dozen lame/boring chase scenes. I never was much of an action buff anyways but the Casino foot chase scene was killer.
