Interesting history on Nasa and a type of ski boot

While researching some ski boots, I came across this article and the concept of the flexon comp from Raichle. Interesting how technology use for space transfered over to the ski industry, who knew that would have happen until after the fact.

I loved my Old Flexon Pros. I'll definitely be trying the Full Tilts out next time I'm shopping for boots.

Guy in my shop has the Camo model. They are extremely low volume boots.

Heard the same. Dalbello has the Krypton series which incorporates the same concepts as the flexon. They bought the patent rights to the cabrio design. However Glen Plake made some tweaks; securing the heel and lowering the hinge of the cuff. Heard the Dalbello has a larger volume. I tried a boot one size larger just to get an idea of the flex stiffness and the flex range. The fitter at ski haus said that if I get the correct size my foot should be ok, its wide at the toes and tapers to an average heel.

Those boots look a whole lot like some boots Rossi put out, I forget the name.

Amazing what comes from NASA and makes it to the consumer market. I'm still waiting for all the practical consumer oriented applications of aerogel.
