BBQ RULES

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is
important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime
outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real'
man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are
put into motion:

Routine...

(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes
dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along
with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the
man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....

(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He
thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with
the situation.

Important again:

(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine....

(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins,
sauces, and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

(10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon
seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing
some women....

Gotta agree with 9 out of the 11, atleast in my household, #1 (the woman buys the meat) well that's not a good idea as my wife who has plenty of great qualities, just has not a clue as to what a good piece of cow/pig/chicken for grilling is  and also #3, where "spicy" food for my wife *might* consist of a dash of salt ;)

You guys are jerks. ;-)

I shop, prep, make salads, marinade, cook, slice, and plate everything. The main area my wife helps with is arranging plates, utensils, etc.

Now you have me thinking what I should throw on the grill tonight....

I'm thinking about picking up some fresh bison burgers from the bison farm near my house. Mmmmm bison bacon cheeseburger on a ciabatta roll with some lettuce and tomato!

Darn, now I've got food on the brain and it's still over an hour and a half until lunchtime for me :(

There must be something wrong with me. I start the fire and SHE does the rest. She thinks all of us skiers are CRAZY. "I'm not strapping sticks on my feet to slide down a mountain! You're all CRAZY!" So, there must be something wrong with me. Ed.

Where's that? That's not a bad drive for me for bison.

It's kind of fun since one of their fields is right next to one of the roads that I use on some of my longer runs and sometimes of the bison are in that field, I'll be running less than 10 feet from one of them (granted there's a barbed wire fence between me and the animal) it's quite the surreal experience

I went with tuna steaks marinaded in teriyaki, garlic, ginger, honey, hoisin sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame chili oil, and chili garlic sauce. Steamed broccoli and basmati rice on the side. Yum.

I have to do it all because I eat alone with nobody else .. come to think of it I drink alone too..

Same here and I don't have a BBQ or deck or backyard so I use a thing called an oven...but when I get that big tax refund check..I might splurge and get one of dem derr George Foreman Grilles for indoor BBQ..ing..

That would be my mosquito magnet, and yes it does work :)
