I'm not a big movie person. Rarely rent them anymore and haven't gone to the theatre in forever. Some favorites in no particular order:

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Dumb and Dumber
Scent of a Woman
Shawshank Redemption
Tommy Boy
A Christmas Story
Star Wars Trilogy
Goodfellas

Rocky V (kidding...)

There are probably others...

I'm a top ten movie? Neat!

2001 - A Space Oddysey
A Clockwork Orange
Fargo
Regarding Henry
Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
The Matrix
Monty Python and the Holy Grail / Life of Brian (tie)
Sideways
To Kill A Mockingbird
American Beauty

I can probably come-up with 90 more equally deserving...

I'd add the bolded ones. Never heard of Longest Day, but I might add The Longest Yard (original ONLY)

D Day invasion flick, starring the big names of the times. What I really like is the cinematography (1962) during the battle scenes. SPR trumps all of this but the camera work is still amazing given the era when it was filmed.

Scott was awesome in Patton

Magnificent Seven is our spaghetti western of Seven Samurai... IMO a pretty good movie, once I saw the original, Mag Seven doesn't compare.

Yeah, I still haven't gotten around to The Seven Samurai yet. Hell, I finally saw Akira 2 weeks ago.
