Trip Report:
A great day of sunny, clear skies, mild temperatures and low humidity met us on the trail as we decided at 8 AM to take advantage of the superb hiking weather. This was our second hike of the Twins in just two months and had much better conditions than before.

After three weeks of rain and high water, the Little River returned to its normal late summer low level, which made the three river rock hops across it very easy.

During high-water one may avoid the toughest first two river rock hops by not crossing at the first hiker sign. Continue heading Southeast on the East (left) side of the Little River for approximately one and one half miles until you see the second hiker icon and cross here.

This narrow, unmarked bushwhack trail will leave the sound and sight of the Little River during the last half mile and will return to meet it at the hiker icon. After it rains, the wet vegetation will brush against your clothing, so you may prefer to wear waterproof clothes.

Heading Southwest up the trail, the last mile climbs steeply until one reaches the fine outlook rock .3-miles before the 4761’ North Twin summit. A short walk West of the summit (cairn) is a spur path that leads to sensational views of the Western Pemi’s, the Franconia Range and beyond!

Next was the quick hike to the spectacular views from the 4902’ South Twin summit that is on the A.T. and a whole afternoon of its 360 degree views and a superb photo shoot.

Another amazing clear day with brilliant blue skies that enabled one to see the 100’s of mountains from a fantastic vantage point seemingly near top of the world!
