Date(s) Hiked: Friday 7/3/09
Trails(s) Hiked: White Dot Trail up, White Cross Trail down
Total Distance: 4 miles round trip
Difficulty: Medium, especially with the wet rock faces
Conditions: Muddy and wet in most places
Special Required Equipment: Boots instead of the sneakers I had on and wrecked lol
Trip Report:
Got to the state park at 12 and started off on the White Dot trail. The bottom is full of mud and puddles. As you go up the rock chutes, they turn into running rivers down the trail. The rocks become very slippery after stepping in the water. The hike up was a lot more difficult than I figured it would be, that last leg to the summit is tough. A rewarding climb, with amazing views and a great breeze at 3,165'. Took White Cross down which was less steep and difficult, but even wetter than the dot. Hike up took 1:30 and down took 1:20. A fun day at Monadnock, wish I could get myself to do it more and get in better shape.
