Huge tarps to cover the snow during rain

I was just wondering if huge, gigantic tarps of biblical proportions could be made to cover and insulate the snow during warm weather and rain storms.

Do you mean like the tarps they roll out onto the ball field when it starts to rain? It sounds in theory like a great idea, but I bet it would be awfully hard to implement such a plan. Putting them out wouldn't be as bad as picking them up, but I still think it would be next to impossible.

This might be an invention waiting to happen though. It maybe worth some of your time trying to figure out the logistics of it.
