Posted this in the Northeast Hiking & Backpacking forum but just realized it should likely go here. I'd love a pair of both crampons and snowshoes. However, in about a week I'm off to the Dacks where, I understand, there is about 3-4" of snow and ice on the peaks.

I also understand that rangers are turning people away who aren't carrying snowshoes or skis... but that's rumour.

I'm wondering your opinion on whether or not I should pick up a pair of snowshoes or crampons? I can't see myself climbing much with the snowshoes, and I'm not quite sure there's enough snow to warrant them. What do you think?
