Day 2, Lake Louise:

Another kinda of crappy day, rock solid snow, and not enough sun to soften it up.

Day 3, Sunshine Village:

Too epic to take any pics, had the camera on me the whole time, but just couldn't stop skiing. Snow report said 17cm(6 inches) but felt like 1-2 ft in most spots. Skied laps on Standish quad the whole day. Standish is pretty much a giant natural terrian park, unlimted amounts of 5-15 ft drops. Amazing.

I can't believe you didn't ski Delirium...
It had a lot more snow on it when I was there.. You could ski trhough the cliff band..

Excellent pictures of a pretty cool place... Great alpine shots - the cornices look doable but not skied(?) - the traverse along the base of the cliff looked great. I loved the drift at the top - the gully down Goats eye really cool.....

Do you carry a transciever in that terrain...? If not - Tell your Dad you need one.. Actually 2 is better :)

Not that it was an issue in the lines you skied but it could've been something that would hold you back from other terrain less tracked...

No tranciever. But why would having a transciever get me into less tracked terrian? I have no avi training so just a transciever wouldnt get me into the OB. Unless your talking about the Dive, which was probably a lot more tracked but was probably a lot nicer. That stuff on goats on is nice but gets nasty because of the southern exposure.

I was just making an assumption that you'd follow up with actually learning how to use it.. :) I know you would...

There's been a few times that I've had the oppurtunity to go to terrain that lends itself to wearing a transceiver and friends that did not - had to stay back... Some of those people had all the gear back at the condo... Just didn't think they'd need it..

Once you get one(and learn to use it) you'll find yourself wearing it out west all the time.. Inbounds or not...

ohhh I gotcha. I thought you knew that I didn't have a transciever so I thought you were saying to rent one so I could explore less tracked out terrian.

Glad you got some snow...the snow year there has been sucking in Banff but awesome in Whistler. I'm gonna be out there again late March I think. Ptarmigan lift/area was what you couldn't remember.... It's a larger predatory bird...like an eagle...The P is silent. :)

Actually, I think the Ptarmigan is a small herbavore, that resembles a morning dove. Short, fat, and changes from brownish to white for winter color to avoid being eaten by predatory birds.

Back on topic, Banff looks amazing, Austin. I'm jealous. That may be on my hit list for next winter or the one after. I would die to go to Kicking Horse on a good snow year after looking at some of those pic's on their website.
