What: America’s Hike For Diabetes Weekend
Where: AMC Highland Center – Bretton Woods, NH
When: June 2-4, 2006
Why: Proceeds To Benefit the American Diabetes Association Research Fund
How It Works: Those who wish to participate will register via e-mail with either the Highland Center at tbray@outdoors.org OR Sherpa John at teamsherpa@mac.com
Upon their registration, the registrant will receive a pledge sheet and event information sheet in the mail or via return e-mail. The participant will then collect pledges in the days leading up to the event and bring the pledges IN FULL on the day of the hike. There is no initial registration cost. (Checks made payable to ADA Research Fund). Each participant has a goal to raise $150 (or more) which will go DIRECTLY to the ADA Research Fund.
Hike: Participants can choose to hike any of the following trails at their own risk on

Hike 9am – 5pm
Easy Level
Around the Lake and Red Bench trails.
Moderate Level
1.) Mount Willard via. Mount Willard Trail
2.) Mount Avalon via. A-Z and Avalon Trails
Difficult Level
1.) Mount Jackson via. Webster-Jackson trail
2.) Mount Pierce via. Crawford Path
3.) Mount Tom via. A-Z Trail and Mount Tom Spur
Other: Weekend long seminars on leave no trace, hiking, diabetes in sports, and other outdoor related activities and seminars. Raffles and give aways. Also, a special screening of “48 – A White Mountain Documentary Film.”
STAY PACKAGES: Thanks to the gracious support of the AMC’s Highland Center, special discounted rates will apply to those registered to participate in this event. Rates are $57/person/night for bunk lodging, with breakfast and dinner included. Private room rates are also available.
