I gave this some thought this year -- and in general i'm thinking go big or go home.
If someone complains that they take too long to download or are too big, let me know...

The easy way without all the puter mumbo-jumbo is to resize the file in your image editing software, then upload it.

There's already a way to "shorten" url's built into the forum here.. It's called a hyperlink
