i haven't gotten an email from sliding on the cheap in a long long time!

generally, they list the same ole' standard deals every month, and spend most of their writing on the larger sized resorty areas. mostly deals that are already widely known. probably good for someone leaning towards overnights at resorts rather than day trippers or people who prefer the rugged areas.

worth signing up for... but i think i've only read one deal on that list that i actually used myself. one more than i would have used had i not signed up i guess!

Thanks for the first-hand account Steve. I think they only put out newsletters from late-November through March. And you're right, even if you only use one of the deals they mention, it's worth subscribing. If I see any deals in their newsletter that I feel are worthy of a post here, I'll do so.

Good one! I'm a fellow Jeep owner - a 2000 Cherokee Sport. Awesome truck. I can't believe they discontinued them in favor of the Liberty. :-?

fortunately i'm not a Jeep owner, but i think skiing 2 mountains such as Gore and Whiteface for one season pass (paid $525 in March, it's $575 now) is a good deal.
outdated Jeep Cherokee should have died in the 90s IMO

It's a classic style! I guess you must prefer rounded SUVs with push-button 4WD!

Jeep Cherokee is a classic that remains a nice looking Jeep. A lot of room and in my opinion are more attractive and seemingly useful than a newer models. Plus you can get used ones for cheep. Good winter beater.

That's right! Us Jeep Owners need to stick together. My in-laws all have Jeeps. Pops-in-law has an '01 Cherokee, Bro-in-law a '97 Wrangler, and Sis-in-law a '96 Cherokee. And my wife drives our Cherokee mostly. It's quite a site when we're all over my father-in-law's!

I received my first "Sliding On The Cheap New England" Newsletter. Here's an example (I won't be posting every one so if you find this useful, subscribe):
Hey New England Sliders,

It's really piling up out there! We've got the makings of a great winter
season - lots of snow, temps at reasonable levels, and great early season
deals. I would love to pontificate some more, but I've gotta' go and catch
some fresh. Read on for the latest deals so you can get your boards pointed
in the right direction, and catch some of your own!

*If you received this as a forwarded message sign up to get your own and be
entered in a chance to win free lift tickets every week! Just go to
http://www.slidingonthecheap.com/neweng.

*SOTC Sliding Weather - From Weather.com
The next couple of days don't look particularly great, with rain on
Wednesday and mixture of snow in some places and rain in others on Thursday.
But we have some fantastic news for you coming into the weekend. Starting on
Friday it's smooth sailing with snow showers throughout the weekend and into
early next week. Temps will be at highs in the 30s and lows in the teens and
single digits. A little chilly maybe - but nothing we can't handle.

*Sports Basement!
Do all your Christmas shopping while relaxing at home--and do it
cheap! Sports Basement offers a vast selection of snowboard, ski
gear and clothing, athletic shoes, backpacks, sleeping bags,
snowboards, fitness and triathlon apparel, cycling gear and more.
Major named-brands up to 70% off retail price every day. (Before
the SOTC discount.) Sliders always receive and ADDITIONAL 10% off
online at www.sportsbasement.com when you enter coupon code SLIDING3
at checkout.

*SOTC Skinny
We hope you enjoyed last week's newsletter from guest writer John DiBari.
He'll be joining us off and on all season. He's a super rad skier with the
skinny on the deals, and we're pysched to have him on board. Speaking of the
skinny on deals, we have some great ones this week - which is pretty
amazing, considering that good deals are generally hard to come by around
the holidays. With $5.50 skiing on Christmas Day at Sugarbush, great ski and
stay deals at Sunday River, and $39 lifts at Okemo this Thursday, we can't
complain!

*The following folks have won this week's free lift tickets good at either
Loon, Waterville, or Cranmore!
Edited by Greg: They actually posted the winner's Email addresses in their Newsletter! I Emailed Julie and mentioned this is not a great way to contact winners...
Reply to this email with your mailing address if you have won!

I'm just seeing this post now, but who can hate Jeeps? I'm finally getting rid of my 1994 - I got 188k out of it and it still runs perfectly well. My folks only buy Jeep now also.

At the motel I manage, I had a guest with a 1991 Grand Cherokee, 305k, everything original except the alternator.

Are you replacing your old Jeep with a new one? There is something about owning a Jeep. We're kinda like Harley owners in that regard, I guess. Once an owner, always an owner...
