Killington

Weather; cloudy, warm, misty on top

First day of the season, Killington peak was in the clouds, with moderate mist on top. Snow was nice and soft but plenty of bare spots, were showing up esp, on the lower section of the mountain. Run of the day was rime, great coverage, with some bump lines forming under the triple chair. We left around 1 pm stopped at pizza jerks for some lunch. Hope they get some cold weather so they can get the snow system fired back up this week. All and all a good first day out.

Way to go on getting out there! Sounds like it worked out well for you despite the bare spots.

There weren't all that many bare spots on the upper mountain. There were some very thin spots skiing to the bottom but I had no problem finding the ribbon. It poured Friday night and drizzled all day Saturday. It was 60F on Sunday. All things considered, the base held up pretty well. The surface on Rime was superb. The beer and BBQ in the parking lot was even better.

Sounds like Rime got worked in a bit more since we were there on Friday. Sucks to hear about the bare spots, we had great coverage, except for a few very small spots of grass poking through under the chair on Rime.
