Finally got up to Magic on Friday after two unsuccessful tries the week before. It was crusty in the morning, but softened-up in the afternoon sun. Met up with Tim and Travis and had a great time skiing trails that I never skied before. Magician was sick! They got lots-O-snow!! Conditions were deep! Ok, here's my first attempt at a video and first Vimeo, be gentle. My PHC (Poor-man's Helmet Cam) needed some UP adjustment, as the last part of the video is a worm's eye view of skiing Twilight Zone.
P.S. Tim and Travis, the next round is on me!

This is on of those times I am glad my iPhone can't play certain video links. Friday was fun, but I skied like a total spas on the new skis. They were great on the groomed stuff, but the extra size compared to my old boards was a challenge on the ungroomed stuff. Anyway, it was still a very fun day. Before noon things were a little crunchy so we tool an early lunch and when we got back on the hill things softened up nicely. From there on out I don't think we skied a groomed all day. First run afte lunch was Magician and that was pretty intense. Run of the day had to be either Gondif Glade or Twilight Zone, but were skiing great!
Had a great time skiing and chatting with you on the lift Bill. BTW very few peole call him Travis, most of us just call him Trevor |

I'd have to agree on the new skis. I was about a 1/4 second late on trying to initiate my turns. The fatter ski just took a tad longer to come around. I'm sure I'll adjust to it, but trying to adjust on Magician on day one was a challenge! I could have skied Gonif and Twilight Zone all day! Travis?! Who the Fack is Travis? Sorry Trev, too much wine when I wrote that. I blame my wife!

Pretty good for a first effort with the POV camera. Some good footage. Finding the soft snow early can be a challenge but if you are familiar with the layout you can figure out what is going to soften up when easier. Looks like you guys had a blast.
Beetlenut I'll give you a few more days on them before I ask about your true opinion of the Xplorers. |
