So I've only been here for about 3 but this site has its roots wayyy back in 1998. At least according to the footer I found on the site when Ski Stef and I took over. But I don't even know what existed in 1998 ..... running Wayback Machine, the earliest images of the site I can find is May 8th, 1999.

Would be sweet to find the actual start date of the site so we could have some celebratory 15 year thing.

Welcome to Spring 1999!!! The 1998/1999 ski season is winding down, but it starting to get warm enough out there to begin thinking about hiking the Green and White Mountains, the Berkshires, and the mountains of Maine. We now present alpinezone.com - Summer!

Here's the fun part! The contents of this site will depend upon you! Submit your stories and experiences, opinions, and suggestions on where to hike in New England. Suggest links, publish a personal hiking story, display images from your outings!

Right now the only means of submission is E-mail, but if the response is good, we will add an on-line submission form. Remember, the success of this site depends on you. So submit your additions today!

First forum post looked to be in July 2001. This looks like the legitimate first post; although I know Greg had previously had a different forum system than vbulletin, but I think the below transferred in from phpbb.

Sure has come a long way, hasn't it!?

Kudos AZ, I used to lurk and post on First Tracks, seems like it died out, found this site, a wealth of information and deals. It's been fun actually meeting, and skiing with fellow members, you've all been great! Ut oh, the two worlds of Bob are colliding!
