got hit by a car poor thing, but what a cool animal...it's in our freezer right now waiting to get it to a taxidermist...stuffed or maybe just get the skin. i was a little weary at first but hopefully we can get a pretty cool piece out if it. maybe install some red eyes and a motion sensor so when you walk by it growls at you.

Is that a Bobcat?

Aren't they really rare here in the Northeast?

They aren't really as rare as people think, what is rare is finding one that got hit on route 7A at 5:30 in the afternoon. I think that because they are mainly nocternal and extremely effective predators that it is rare they put themselves in a position to be seen by people. The state does a pretty good job of monitoring their population; VT has had a trapping season for them for as long as I can remeber and this year I noticed there is a hunting season as well.:uzi:

I don't think so, but they stay away from people for the most part and aren't seen that often.

If you're walking in the woods, you won't see a bobcat, but you can be sure a bobcat has seen you.

They're like Santa Claus. Or the government.

Bobcats have supersonic sleighs with cloaking devices and/or black helicopters with stealth technology?

I'm not saying they do. I'm not saying they don't. But think about it- if they did have them, do you think they'd want you to know?

Look at it this way- why do elephants paint their toenails red? Obviously, so they can hide in cherry trees. Have you ever seen an elephant in a cherry tree? Prettty elegant proof that it works, I'd say.
