I liked Darent's question about solo skiers. Not the answer I'd prefer to hear but money talks I suppose. The times I've gone up there alone I'll stay at an off-mountain rundown place. It's nice to enjoy the nightlife there though; the bar-hopping is a good time. If I could get a room at the Sugarloaf Inn for $80 for myself I'd probably spring for that. Any more though and I'd have to think twice.

the problem finding cheap off site lodging is you still pay full boat for the lift ticket while groups take advantage of the deals like $59.00 a night lift and lodging or $89.00 L&L . understand that they can"t let a single take up room for more people, But how about a lift ticket deal for mutiple days to go along with the cheap offsite lodging, or last minute deals on non rented rooms- rent me a closet

A couple of years ago we chose not to renew our season pass because we felt very overcharged for lodging. Essentially, a week long condo stay where we didn't require lift tickets was nearly the same price as it would have been for a couple that were doing ski and stay. Essentially, we felt taken advantage of as season pass holders rather than the opposite. (We've partially gotten over it, I have a pass this year but my better half doesn't.)

I was a longtime passholder there until this year and I've always felt the same about the lodging prices. You just don't get a deal as a passholder.

There used to be an awesome dorm down in Kingfield, like 10 or 12 $$$$ a night. Lots of snowmobilers but usually huge empty dorms on the midweek. I stayed there for weeks on end one year, cheaper than rent! Someone needs to open a hostel up there.
