Saw the interview this morning while still in bed. (thank you snow day!)
She's awesome...you know she's going to be out there if she can...I sure hope she can...either way its ashame. But it is amazing how her gorgeous looks belie her toughness.

Saw her interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show a little while ago. Draining some fluid from her shin bruise 
She said she might ski a couple of training runs for the combined downhill later this week (race day in Sunday). She said that she wanted to get this info out so that everyone knows what's going on if her performance isn't upto Lindsey-like levels. She's staying off of and out of her Head's until Thursday.

That so sucks for her...what a dissapointment to train so long and hard for the Olympics only to be injured right at the start of them, again...
I hope she doesn't injure herself badly by trying to ski through it.

She once skied through a lacerated thumb on the WC circuit. She should be fine. Go Lindsey!

That's a little different than an injured shin. If you can't put pressure on it, you can't carve properly.

Even if she dosen't get an Olympic Medal due in part to the injury, she has accomplished a lot this season - already won the World Cup Super G title, on the verge of winning the WC Downhill title, a sizeable lead on the Overall Title. "You can take all the joy out of life by never being satisfied".

IMHO, the overall WC is so much more prestigious and shows so much more than an Olympic medal. I would think she wouldn't risk too much....as winning a 3rd consecutive WC would be outrageous.

And getting hurt in Slalom, which really isn't her best discipline either!!! Must be very frustrating.

Unfortunately winning a GOLD medal will bring her the kind of attention and noterity in the US more so than winning the overall WC title again. Sad that the average person in the US can't recognize the accomplishments she's already made on the WC circuit, but instead will judge her based on her performance in the Olympics.

She was just interviewed on the Today show and she's not smiling. This injury couldn't have happened at a worse time. For someone like her to say it hurts really really bad, it has to be excruciating. Skiing in the Olympics is now up in the air....

Vonn said she is confident the injury is only to the muscle and there is no fracture, but she really doesn't know for sure because she's refused to have X-rays out of fear doctors might tell her the bone is broken.
I wonder if that is true?

I doubt it. In her interview she indicated it was a deep muscle injury and the physician said it would heal in a couple weeks. She did the interview purposefully so that spectators would understand what was going on with her. A brave lady, on multiple fronts, under huge pressure.

I HATE myself for being such a cynic but......
The Olympics is all about stories and marketing and post Olympic endor$ement$ (for medalists).
How great a story if she wins playing injured and overcomes it (a la MLR).

Training run was canceled after 2 races due to fog....American Stacy Cook was the 2nd one and she crashed out. Lindsey gets another day to recover. She freeskied down to the bottom and apparently looked strong, so says her hub and coach:
