Date(s) Skied: Nov. 28, 2010
Resort or Ski Area: Sugarbush
Conditions: Variable early season (SM/WS/Ice). Rock skis were a good idea!
2010-2011 Report #: 2.
Trip Report: I got back last night from a Thanksgiving in New York City and was very excited to work off some of the calories from Turkey Day today. I had heard that the limited terrain at Sugarbush was decent--typical early season WROD. My plan was to get there early and get in a morning of runs...about 3 hours if I could.
I pulled into the parking lot at 8:20 and there was already a few folks...almost 45 minutes before the lifts were to spin. Folks had the same idea.
It was WROD pretty much. Usual early season route down Jester and Deathspout to Heaven's Gate. First run was pretty slick: the snowmaking had coated over the grooming and it had hardened. Folks did a good job chopping it up and it was decent from about 9:30 until 11:00 or so. By then it was getting pretty crowded and the snow was skied off on Deathspout to reveal some pretty slick spots. After losing edge and sliding, I took one more run and called it quits at about 11:30 or so. Not bad for the first day at Sugarbush. I'm hoping to get back soon for some turns.
Some pictures:
Organgrinder...coming soon:
More:
And the view of the new buildings:
Nice seeing skiladi, WWF-VT, teleo, and Lostone.
