How were they? I skied here in the Pocono's at Camelback and Blue Mt and they were both packed to the brim. Love seeing the ski areas make money but also looking forward to those March and April days when the less then regular customers aren' t there. Interested to hear how they were elsewhere.

Absolutely PACKED at the home hill. And that's a good thing. It was even busy still at 3 pm yesterday afternoon.

Very busy at Waterville yesterday but lines were about 5 minutes on the HSQs and less on the fixed grip lifts. Only felt a little crowded on the Valley Run novice slope.

slammed at Stratton.

You could avoid the crowds by any of the fixed grips and the Shooting Star lift. Top 100 yards no matter what trail you took from the top was a zoo, then the crowds dispersed enough.

Berkshire East was busy by their standards Saturday. Still never waited in line more than a minute, and most of the day it was ski on.
Magic had a steady stream going up the lift Sunday due to hosting a kids race. I was single so never waited, again I don't think anyone waited more than a minute, and that was only between 10:30 and 11:30. Trails were empty.
Chose these two areas based on crowds............I should say lack-there-of.
BEast is great for a laid back Saturday
Magic Sunday is usually less crowded than Saturday.

I skied Loon yesterday and it was AWESOME. Conditions were great and crowds were nil.

Apparently, those who skied on Saturday had a totally different experience. Crowds were so large as to make people sad they had chosen to ski that day. Gondola line was particularly bad; about as bad as it gets.

I heard more than one person say that the snowmaking this year is stellar. Conditions have been fabulous every weekend. No complaints from me. : )

Westchester County, NY and a Mountain near you!
Catamount was really nice. Not too bad..(although, I didn't head over to the triple, which usually gets more crowded than the quad and double that goto the summit), until later in the afternoon. But even the lodges weren't too crowded. Snagged a great parking spot up front too, even though we didn't get there until later in the morning. Snow was really nice too. But perhaps the best thing IMHO, was that at about 3:00 or so, I heard the sound of leaking compressing air...and sure enough, right at about 4, when the lifts shut down, they turned on the guns on a couple of trails. I was impressed, given the nice natural base and the fact that the mountain was skiing quite well as it was!

Saturday at Sunday River was amazingly busy.

Busiest I've seen it all year.

We were able to avoid the lines pretty good all day though, never waited more than 5/6 mins... Most of the time practically skiing on at lifts like Aurora, White Heat, Tempest, Locke, Spruce, and North Peak... Barker was a zoo at 8:30AM, and so I avoided it like the plague... South Ridge was also quite the zoo.

I've got a pic of an AMAZING amount of skis laid out on the snow at South Ridge... never seen that many before. (I'll try to put it up later)

Sad to hear that it was fairly crowd-less at Loon on Sunday. I was planning to head there Sunday, but car trouble prevented that. :-(

Blue was slamming on Saturday. VIP line at the quad was about 5 mins.

I was in the Non-VIP line yesterday. Slammed. We got good runs from 8 to 10:30 then pretty much stayed at the race. We would have skied but just too many people. Getting back over to the summit lodge took alot of time.

Yes, Saturday was insane at SR. But like you, we had no problems avoiding lines. People on the slopes was unavoidable though, Kansas was a clogged pipe lol, tried my hardest to be patient but sure I pi$$ed off one lady trying to scoot by her on the left side as she needed the entire trail to carve her turns.

Saturday night in Bethel was busiest I've ever seen. Sunday at SR was dead, oddly. Not sure why.

We were surprised on Friday with how busy it was. It wasn't like a weekend day, but busy for a Friday. Saturday was packed! At lunch time, the ski racks were full and people were ditching their gear in the snow.

Sunday, it calmed down a bit.

I know business was good for the local eateries on Saturday night. All this snow has really brought a lot of people out this season. It so good for the mountain economy.

All this snow has really brought a lot of people out this season. It so good for the mountain economy.

It's funny how psychological it is for many folks.
I remember when I used to work at the mountain, I'd know it would be a packed weekend if it snowed down in Boston or New York City, even if it hadnt snowed in Vermont.
The exact opposite happens too. A few years I recall the snow in Vermont was great, but it hadnt snowed much (or at all) down South, and the slopes werent really crowded at all.
