ABC News Correspondent Bob Woodruff to Deliver Event's Keynote Address
STOWE, VT -- March 13, 2012 - Chartis today announced that its 2012 Winter Summit benefiting Disabled Sports USA's (DS/USA) Warfighter Sports Program will take place March 13-16 at Stowe Mountain Resort. ABC News Correspondent Bob Woodruff is serving as the event's keynote speaker.
In its 24th year, the Winter Summit is a business building event attended by a number of participants across the insurance industry. The event combines Chartis-led panel sessions with ski and snowboarding races, forming a fundraising platform on behalf of DS/USA whose Warfighter Sports Program offers sports rehabilitation for those wounded in combat. Mr. Woodruff's remarks on the closing evening of the Winter Summit will address efforts to assist injured service members, veterans and their families -- including those involved in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars - along with related issues.

While on the slopes, event attendees will be able to participate in practice runs with celebrity ski host and Olympic gold medalist Tommy Moe.

Warfighter Sports
Warfighter Sports, a program of Disabled Sports USA, offers sports rehabilitation for severely wounded warriors in military hospitals and communities across the U.S. through a nationwide network of over 100 community-based chapters. Since 1967, Disabled Sports USA has proudly served wounded warriors, including those injured in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, offering over 30 winter and summer sports at more than 100 events each year. Contributions cover all expenses for participation, including individualized adaptive instruction, adaptive sports equipment, transportation, lodging and meals for the warrior and a family member. Bob Woodruff
Bob Woodruff joined ABC News in 1996 and has covered major stories for the network throughout the country and around the world. He was named co-anchor of ABC's World News Tonight in December 2005. On January 29, 2006, while reporting on U.S. and Iraqi security forces, Mr. Woodruff was seriously injured by a roadside bomb that struck his vehicle near Taji, Iraq.
In February 2007, just 13 months after being wounded in Iraq, Mr. Woodruff returned to ABC News with his first on-air report, To Iraq and Back: Bob Woodruff Reports. The hour-long, primetime documentary chronicled his traumatic brain injury, painstaking recovery, and the plight of thousands of service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with similar injuries. Mr. Woodruff continues to cover traumatic brain injuries and was honored with a Peabody Award in 2008 for his reporting on the subject.
The Woodruff family established the Bob Woodruff Foundation to help heal the physical and hidden wounds of war by providing resources and support to injured service members, veterans and their families.
