Trip Report:
I decided last minute to go up to Butternut for some spring skiing. It was a beautiful day and I woke up early to do some work around the house and then left to go to the Berkshires. As I pulled into the lot around 11:45am I noticed about 100 or so cars. I wore a long sleeve tee shirt and some wind pants. It was just a great day.

I was impressed with the amount of snow on the trails after all of the rain and warm temperatures. I did the Upper Applejack / Lower Applejack as my first run. The snow was kind of heavy, but riding on 100cm snowblades, I was able to carve through the stuff like it was fresh powder to a boarder or someone on traditional skis. There were some bare spots. Today the Tf Quad and the Overbrook Triple were running. The only trail I did not like today was Freewheeler. For some reason the snow seemed very heavy and sticky on that trail. There were no bumps anywhere today. The highlight of my trip was a stop in the Butternut Ski shop to buy a pair of Salomon 1080 skis & bindings for next season! Forget yard work on Sunday, go skiing!
