Park the truck parallel to the "fall line". Then when you dump the load the truck rolls. What's a guy to do?

The best part of the labor shortage is watching folks drive heavy trucks all summer and fall with no problems. Once the snow and ice come - a couple of tons can help, butt when it slides, you're screwed. Below is a link to a friend's stores. The principle would say "NO ONE KNOWS MORE ABOUT TRUCKS" and it was true. (At least selling them).

I don't think Tom is going to enjoy (especially being pulled out of retirement) working for A) an ownership group B) led by a hands on owner who tends to make half-baked/seat of the pants decisions.

Considering Tom's success comes from taking underutilized assets with challenging ownership situations I think he is the right guy for the job.

I do not know Tom, but know Jon & all of the management at Berkshire East and everyone seems to be happy working there and for him. Not sure where you get “half baked / seat of pants decisions from either”?

There's no Mcdonalds in Montpelier and now food will be better at Burke? Let's not worry about snow making this year. This will be a problem out West. :giggle:

I think that Newpy is referring to the issues with Catamount.

If it wasn't for Jon, the Beast would be closed, and potentially Catamount as well. However that does not change the fact that many capital projects were executed chaotically and usually last minute, putting tons of pressure on the teams involved. There are many examples: Beast Northeast Expansion, T-Bar Express, Catamount Meadows triple, snowmaking projects all around. My point was a seasoned veteran like Tom might get fed up quickly if that style of decision making extends to his domain. However he should be a great pick to get them out of receivership temporarily, which my guess is the goal.

Anyone heard any updates on the long promised chairlift relocation and terrain expansion at Berkshire East ? Last news I am aware of is the dismantling of the Mountain Top Triple for future redeployment in the new terrain. Has Jon’s attention been drawn away to Burke ?

(Burke has been out of receivership since May or so. This is a new ownership group).

Northeast Expansion is on hold for now. The permitting is good for a few more years so they have time.

Have to question the ROI in a major expansion like that at a Massachusetts ski area.

How much more market share will the development grab from the larger and snowier neighbors not far north?
