At least another week without any snow. Probably more. Situation dire.

Investigating Utah's Ambitious Plans To Merge 7 Major Ski Resorts
Multiple attempts have been made to interconnect several ski resorts in Utah's Wasatch Mountains.

So looking at this map what stands out to me is the connection they are proposing called Grizzly Gulch particularly the Solitude side. This is a picture from the Summit Lift at Solitude looking up at the ridge above Honeycomb where from the map it looks like the lift would go. I hope I'm wrong but that would be one hairy lift.

And One Wasatch works, say, for one who wants to go from LCC to BCC or vice versa, or PC to BCC. It is simply too far to go from PC to LCC for one day of skiing.

There's likely going to be almost no terrain open during Christmas, the busiest week of the season. I wont even consider skiing that week.

The forecast for the next 10 days looks good around here. But once we get beyond that I hope you don't bring the seemingly annual December 23rd 60 degree and rainy Grinch Storm with you!

Ironically it looks like sometime around Christmas might be when it finally flips and the west looks better. We need the high pressure wall to move out.
It will flip soon enough...
Pretty harsh but I do admit I'm thrilled with the early season here in the east.
You're welcome. Your job is to now keep this weather pattern for me until January 2, 2026 which is when my trip back to Vermont ends.

The tram's running now at Snowbird and I got four laps on it this morning. Walk-on. 3000' vertical of WROD down Regulator and Emma. Worked my early season leg muscles pretty good

Hate to say it, but the last 3 years prior to this year, East starts have been very slow. We all have to go through the early season pains once in a while.

This is worse than a bad early season, this is threatening historically bad since the US ski industry's been a thing.
If you look at the long range (yes, take these with a grain of salt) the High pressure doesn't want to leave the west displacing to the east until Christmas Eve. That's 2 more weeks! That said, I'll happily take a snow storm as a Christmas present at this point.

Well, history does get made from time to time. You all have been complaining about the hoards showing up in the Wasatch. Perhaps this early blemish will convince them all to shift their plans for the balance of this season.
.....and then we will have to endure the complaints from the resorts as to how badly they are doing.
