Snowplow driver, maybe? Then you'd need to always be plowing when it's dumping instead of heading up for fresh pow.

Or a Hawaiian Tropics model. Because then you'd be in the tropics. :dontknow:

Other ideas?

(... can you tell we need more :snow: )

Working for a hockey or basketball team would suck. Your schedule is flexible in the summer but your winters are booked.

very true. i used to take my son to a hitting facility. the guy who runs it said from Dec to April he never has a minute of free time and had given up skiing to run his business.

Make that 8 - 5; who really works 9 - 5? That's only a 7-hour work day if you stop for lunch.

So I work 8 - 5 and only ski weekends. You don't save any money by skiing midweek if you're using up vacation time. Of course the problem then is crowds, but we all know ways to get around that, off-the-beaten-path areas or trail pods. At least all the lifts are running. If worse comes to worst, you can just wait in the damn lift line. You may lose enough time to get one-third less runs, but you guys are always saying the quantity of runs doesn't matter.

So I'd vote for the snow-plow driver. Of course the groomer-operator is in the same boat, but at least he's real close to the ski area.

It's not about the lift ticket cost, it's about being tied to 2 days/week and limited evenings. Would agree that the plow driver has it worse.

Wouldn't a groomer operator have it pretty good? In most cases they work when the ski area is closed...

Pretty much any job related to a ski resort. Ski lift operator comes to mind. I did it for a winter while and college and skied maybe once or twice....that free pass was sweeet!

Sorry weekend warriors, midweek is infinitely better-that's life. As long as your getting out as often as possible that's all that really matters. If I could only ski weekends I would do it in a flash however.

yeah being a lifty would be torture IMO. I would easily take a night janitor job and clean shitters over being a lifty. Those guys have a great schedule.

Running a ski shop that is not at a ski area. I run one at a resort, and get out lots, but the guys who run our other shops ski very rarely.

My wife is a CPA. When she worked in the public sector she would pretty much lose all of March and April in the run up to April 15. Losing March and April would be absolute torture to me.

I was thinking along the same lines though the Tax Accountants I know also lose February and part of January in addition to March and April.

I will add pro football player to the list. As stated here a couple of weeks back, in Drew Bledsoe contract he was forbidden to ski at all:eek:

The biggest problem with being limited to weekends is that you can't follow the weather...crowds can be annoying but manageable.

I would imagine your slow times during the week would allow for some ski time if you're right on the hill.

Never done it and dont intend too, but I was always under the impression that a lot of lifties did it because it allowed them to ski/ride. One hour on, one hour off kinda schedule.
