    Covid Vaccine

So, after getting a bivalent shot in the fall and doing just fine over the winter, I got sidelined this past week with whatever variant is out there now. Still mild although a bit worse than the first time...like a lingering cold. Don't think we will ever get rid of it but I'm hopeful that it...

    Gunstock Management team resigns

At least the campground is still open...but this whole situation is messed up. Hope it can be settled in time for ski season.

    Covid Vaccine

Hoping just one a year...I had all kinds of shots years ago in the military, and I never had a reaction as strong as I had to the 2nd shot and booster.

    Crowds Super Bowl Sunday???

Busiest day I had at Gunstock was on Superbowl Sunday...if a place has a lift ticket deal they will come. Game isn't until the evening, and it seems like people are going because they think it will be less crowded. Had the choice to go on Friday and even though it was a lot colder I decided to...

Pat’s Peak open an extra week - what does it signal for NE ski areas?

Pretty sure I remember going to Pats Peak once after the usual closing date. Not the norm but not unheard of. Was at Crotched yesterday and it was quite busy. There's still a decent amount of snow in people's back yards (ours at least) and the weather has been chilly. I was actually hoping...

    Grande Summit at Sunday River

I stayed at the Grand Summit last April (was there for a non-skiing event). Standard rooms seemed fine, bed was pretty comfortable. Breakfast buffet was way overpriced, got a better deal at the Sunday River Brewing Company.

    Subaru

My son's car is an 09 and it has the coolant, and the HG still went...which is likely why Subaru covered the replacement even though the basic warranty had expired.

Are you at..where you want to be

Started skiing when I was in my mid to late 30s and I'm 53 now. Unfortunately I have yet to get out frequently enough to get beyond the intermediate level. Usually do OK on most groomers but I struggle in bumps and glades (to put it mildly). One advantage is that I've never had the skills...

    Snow..coming ???

Drove up from Mass in the early afternoon, after the rain had a chance to wash away any ice/slush on I-89. As far as I could tell it was all snow from the base of Killington on up. Killington was crowded on Saturday (as expected) but the snow on Friday made for good conditions.

    Snow..coming ???

Have a room booked for the weekend at Killington, reserved several months ago. Can't cancel that, and we already bought tickets, so unless the drive is undoable we will be there. Thoughts on the drive up on Friday and conditions on Saturday? Trying to see if there will be a better or worse...

Current Arctic Pattern: Possible Relaxation and Storm on 1/4

If a ski area offers a special lift ticket deal, then Superbowl Sunday can be one of the busiest days of the season... Went to Gunstock on Superbowl Sunday a few years ago and it was packed, worse than a holiday week. They were offering lift ticket specials and everybody was getting in a quick...

    Holiday week bust???

Was at Gunstock yesterday for a few hours. Cold definitely kept the crowds away which was good because the HSQ was down all day. Guess they got more ice than expected. Slope conditions were fine...a bit firm in spots but plenty of edgeable snow. Another issue was that they only had two...
