    The "Sugarbush Thread"

Fascinating. I always thought that the lifts ran off electricity and the backup generators just replaced the normal electrical supply. Guess I need to stick to my day job.

huh, who knew. Maybe we can all pool our AAA batteries into a backup

Isnt that just a diesel generator? Those things are pretty ubiquitous, I would think, unless they're all being sent to Ukraine.

That's an understatement. Can't recall a pre thanksgiving run of consistent below normal temps as forecatsed. and who knows, maybe mother nature comes bearing gifts next weekend.

Welcome aboard! Your input is much appreciated. For the record and fwiw, I luv bombing down those trails on GH (no idea what the names are except for sleeper and waterfall). Not an all day kind of thing by any means, but a couple of runs to get in the groove. I like this skiing thing. sure...

temps look crappy until sunday. I'm trying to talk my wife n daughter into going up for thanksgiving instead of going to the inlaws. This is not helping my cause.

Bummed Sage is closed. Liked that place. That building was empty for years after Egan's shut down. I assume the dispensary will be in the lower level where the mad river distillery shop was? Is it going to be a retail dispensary or medical only? I wonder if the labor situation will ease...

    Electrical Rates Skyrocket

This prompted me to look at my most recent bill from Coned in NY. Supply charge was 11.2558¢/kWh. I guess we dont have woke people here in NYS.

Electric Cars/Trucks and winter weather testing with results. What do you think? Who has taken one in Freezing cold long distance to a Ski mountain?

a power plant on every street corner? wow that does seem daunting. If only there was a way to generate electricity on a small scale from the roofs of existing structures and open spaces. But if that were possible, surely Edison Westinghouse and/or Tesla would have done so a century ago...

snow tires for 215/65R16 tire size?

can't beat the performance of true snow tires, but I've been using the Nokian all weather tires, WRG4 which are snow rated and great year round. worth a look IMHO.

    Fernie and FWA cat skiing?

That’s my worst nightmare. I’ve been fortunate and out of 6 trips to Valhalla not a single issue. But if conditions aren’t good, they’ll cancel and refund without a problem. Fwiw- Valhalla pc was recently bought by baldface. only thing better than the skiing at whitewater is the food.

    Fernie and FWA cat skiing?

Correct no cell service. you can do Valhalla powdercats on a daily basis Staying out of Nelson. Or big red cats in Rossland out of Red mountain resort.
