    Jay Peak bombshell

The Tramside Foundry Pub and Grille is not bad if you don't feel like driving. We've been there a few times and had good experiences. Excellent burgers. Decent beer selection too. The restaurant at the Stateside is low level hotel food. Heard Belfry was good but haven't tried it.

    Tenney Mountain

Gotta be tough to be in the middle of a very competitive NH market while on life support (Dan Egan's term). Kind of hoping they would go Indy so I could throw it in the mix when visiting Waterville and Cannon. Based on comments in the latest Storm Skiing podcast that does not look likely because...

    Stratton Thread

I was about 5th in line at the gondola yesterday morning. Everything skied great. Took some time to watch the pond skim which was very well attended. They still have lots of snow but I'm not a regular there so I don't know how much longer they will stay open. Two more weeks?

    Black Mountain, NH CLOSED

Hit Black NH this year and still had the lift ticket on my jacket when I stopped in at Loon. Lots of people came up to me and asked how it was. People are pretty passionate about the place and there's a strong local following. Cool vibe there but the neglect is obvious.

Lot 2 filled up very quickly once it was opened. Not sure where people went after that. Home? Thought it would suck yesterday but with almost no lift lines I had one of my favorite days on the season. You just had to embrace the bumps because there was no flat terrain anywhere. Lodges were...

    You Can Lease Blue Hills

The application says all proposals due by June 15, 2018. I guess we're a little late. Anyway, they are closing tomorrow for the season. The one webcam looks sad indeed.

    Keeping an eye on Windham

Yes, so I can think abut what I'm having for lunch while waiting on 20 minute lift lines.

    Ski journalism

Both Chris Diamond books are excellent but the new one was really interesting because it covered the rise of the multi-resort pass. Sad to hear of his passing back in January.

    Ski journalism

I feel his podcasts started out with an emphasis on smaller, Indy type places which I found more interesting since the people he spoke to were free to discuss topics basically without any corporate filter. I think he will always have an affection for the small, underdog resorts. Now he seems to...

ChatGPT has no respect for East Coast resorts

I love Platty but when Whiteface is good, its just great. Plus the town is lots of fun. Interesting list though.

    Mont Sainte-Anne

Cool place. Was there a few years back (right before covid) and thought it was great. Other than being insanely cold (-24F) it appeared to be very well run, maintained and staffed. Sad to hear about the gondola cabin falling off. I'll let someone who has been there recently chime in on where it...

RIP mike the jay peak pirate

Was there Saturday and Sunday staying at the Stateside looking out at Taxi and Bonnie. Everyone working at Jay seemed to love being there. My favorite trip of the year. RIP

    Tenney Mountain

Sounds like the owners want to be in the restaurant / private event business more than the ski business, but what do I know? They have $30M to blow on a fancy new lodge and I don't. It will look great nestled amongst the run down 1980's era condos and ancient, empty ski lifts.

Indy Pass goes off sale 4-10-23 (sold out)

I still run into people who claim to be avid skiers and they are not aware the Indy Pass exists.
