    Kitzbuhel 2024

What time of year are you going? Kitzbuhel is pretty low elevation so hopefully in the dead of winter. Was in Lech Zurs last year for Christmas and the skiing was very elevation dependent (good above 2k meters, mediocre between 1800-2000m, and downright depressing below).

Right-so if/when the highway widens, you can expect additional demand (on weekends and holidays) to fill the new capacity. As for the stretch of road in question, I would support a straightening of the curves in between the 89/93 interchange and downtown Concord. I think that would solve most...

    Cannon Lover's Thread

Widening highways is a fools errand. It simply creates induced demand and the traffic will be just as bad a few years down the road. There is empirical data on this (in addition to lived experiences that many of us are familiar with like 95 in the Boston area, the LIE, the Katy Freeway, etc)...

Ideal ski towns for the future factoring in all issues?

I wouldn’t be opposed to moving out of the NYC area (I’ve lived elsewhere, as my username would suggest) but two problems: 1) If I wanted to buy your property or equivalent today in the NH Seacoast, my mortgage payment + property taxes + maintenance would cost a lot more than $4k a month. You...

Ideal ski towns for the future factoring in all issues?

Yeah, you're under market for sure if that is what you are paying. Granted, we're on the waterfront, have a midtown view, pool, gym etc, but I'm sure your building has many of the same amenities. I'd expect that to go for 4800-4900 at least. Of course, my buddy just rented his 1300sqft 2 bed/2...

Ideal ski towns for the future factoring in all issues?

My GF and I are paying $4040/month for a one bedroom in Hoboken right now. Housing costs are insane in the Northeast, but quite honestly, not much better in the mountain west (in the desirable areas, not Casper, WY).

    Guess the ski area

    Mt Seymour BC?

    VT Flooding

Which is silly because in reality, Utah has both a higher violent crime rate and property crime rate than NJ.

Not bagels-but there is also a really great Kolache place in Heber City if you like that particular Czech/Texan creation.

I was referring to Mt Baldy re: Magic/MRG.

    Your 2022-2023 Ski Season Thread

There's a few options in SoCal.. You've got Big Bear/Snow Summit which in McSkiing but also Mountain High, Snow Valley, and Mt Baldy (Which is a bit like Magic/MRG).

    Vote for Utah ski bus

I don’t disagree that skier visits could dip at some point in the next 5 years as the experience degrades, but there are big differences between the skiing market and the housing market. Leverage, stickiness, transaction costs, etc.. A better comp would probably be what the golf industry was...

    Vote for Utah ski bus

If the toll is too low, it won't affect traffic. You have to make it sting to see a true shift in transit mode.

    VAIL SUCKS

There's also probably a good bit of price/mix contribution in the revenue numbers. See $PEP and $KO earnings from the last couple of days as proof of this. Volume flat, but pricing creating 14% organic revenue growth.

    2023/2024 Season Passes

I skied at Alyeska in late February of 2019. I would NOT travel all from the way from New England to ski there exclusively. It's a fun place, but the visibility on the upper mountain is often compromised, and the good terrain ranges from almost never open (Sunspots, Headwall) to sometimes open...
