    Elk Mtn, PA? Any word?

Elk's website now shows "Snowmaking has begun...". So in the Elk pace of life (i.e., glacial) I guess than means they are catching up to their competitors to the south, JF/BB, Blue, Camelback.

Stowe's Boston Bob explained, and Stowe's new HS Quad

In my experience, the article got it right, everyone calls him Bob, and he prefers Robert. I was there with a local years ago, and evidently the thing to do when you see him skiing under you when you're on a lift is to yell "Hey, Boston Bob", and he yells back "It's Robert!", while raising a...

Stowe's Boston Bob explained, and Stowe's new HS Quad

In a write up in the Stowe Reporter: http://www.stowetoday.com/stowe_reporter/on_snow/article_d4924e6e-2cae-11e1-ad2c-001871e3ce6c.html The money quote in there: This is why VT and NE skiing is so full of character and legend.

Stowe/Waterbury VT - Alchemist abandons brew pub rebuild

Re-reading that article, the folks with the NECI certainly have make corporate titles into an artform. In that five paragraph writeup, there's a "vice president of culinary education", who will share leadership duties with "vice president of food and beverage operations". Hey, what I was a...

Stowe/Waterbury VT - Alchemist abandons brew pub rebuild

Welcome to the '10 - '11 lift served ski season everybody!!!

I agree with the above posts. Well done, congratulations to Sunday River. In recognition, I'll throw some skier days their way, probably before turkey day!

    Stowe anyone?

I always get a laugh out of the story of how for years and years Stowe had 48 trails. Then their marketing department got involved and "created" another 40 or so. Good conversation starter at the local watering holes.

Coldest ski area in the NE US

I'll bet this question would get entirely different answer if it were to be asked on a canadian ski site, biglines.com for example.

    is Accuweather rite??

This one says the just opposite for PA and the Mid Atlantic region, but goes further out than only this coming year: Summary: Climate study predicts hotter weather, less snow Full Report: 350 pages. Some quotes:

    Cool picture

Outstanding photo. A few years ago the print brochure for WF had a very similar pic of the cloud tops just below Riva Ridge. The clear air/cloud boundary was distinct and right at the trail signs. I hear the experience is almost surreal, you're literally skiing down into the clouds. Where...

Do you have a sense of entitlement at your home mountain?

Agreed the lady was an ignorant ass. However, in the last ten years I've noticed that the children of adults at their home mountain clearly have a sense of entitlement. I see examples all the time, kids that don't clean up the tables after themselves at lunchtime, that jump ahead of adults in...

Strange lack of service at Stratton

Agreed. The demographics they seek to attract to their resort, seem to think this is normal behavior.
