    Haystack / Hermitage news

One would think that Vail would put in a bid to "protect" their Mount Snow interests.

    Stratton-need some help

One would assume: Not the Sun Bowl lodge. The main base lodge has a small area in front for first arrivals, I forget if buses actually park there, but that is where they would drop them. Drive up, signs push drop off parking to right, follow the flow, can't get lost, if/when that small lot 1...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

 I have ONE FB friend who is a Phish head, that's enough. Takes up my whole news feed. To bring it full circle: Last time at Magic, caught a hawt chick with a MOE shirt on, while I'm dad/accountant/skier and not a pothead snowboarder per se, I thought that was pretty nice to see. I do...

    Okemo 2/2/19

BTT. Reviving this thread in preparation of 4 days at Okemo starting Sunday. Same thing, have not been in 25 years. I spent the night last night watching videos of the Glades and diamonds they have to offer there, and got pretty depressed. Maybe it's the cameras or not, but when I see a guy...

    New storm on the way

I have 3 kids, 16, 11, 9. and while the older 2 love the glades, the 9 year old is just starting to ski the blues. ...and after the skigasm we received with 4 days of powder at Jay last year, I might as well hang it up and never ski again. :spin::spin::spin:

    New storm on the way

Headed to Okemo for 4 day starting Sunday! :snow::snow::snow::snow: ...too bad they'll probably groom every bit of fresh powder.:smash::sadwalk:

    The NEW Magic Mountain

I'm seeing reports on Ski The East Facebook that even some of the mid sized mountains had crowds this weekend, but overall the post above confirms what I've noticed this past year (as I now delve into having to ski weekends): If you really MUST ski on a weekend in South/Central VT, stick to the...

Berkshire East 1/10/2020 and recent experiences

As above. My kids home mountain, she's there with the ski club every Thursday. They've put a TON of money into the mountain over the years, great to see. I too remember the Berkshire Ice days. If prevailing weather and conditions are halfway decent, the BEast is hard to bead on the fun/value...

Jiminy Peak First Time Skiing Black Diamond

x2 on conditions, that makes more of a difference. I'd rather ski a black in great conditions rather than blue in icy conditions. IMHO a black is often no more steeper than a blue, it just sustains that steepness longer throughout the trail. If you are "shredding" all the blues, you should have...

Looking for ski resorts/mountains with a lot of greens and blues

I chose Okemo for my family vacation for this reason. My middle daughter is just a green/blue skier. Only 2 peaks, can't get too lost. Jay: LOTS of fun greens on the bottom. Be wary, IMHO the two blues from the top on either side are borderline black/black at any other mountain. Stratton...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Anyone here part of the Magic FB group? Maybe someone there knows what's going on. I'm still rooting for them. I know a lot of people are.

    Stratton Glade Conditions

Well, they rope the main drop-in points. Honestly last weeks rain did them in pretty good, there's enough grass/roots/rocks sticking through where even if you did drop in elsewhere its really nothing palatable at all at this point.

    Stratton Glade Conditions

Stratton Glade Report 1/5/20: Nothing....but ropes. They need a good dumping to get them open.

    This weekend

I'm trying to get some wind reports for Sunday. Looks like we might get some good groomer cover, but gusts 25+ I'm reading. Maybe choose a smaller fixed-grip mountain?
