Mt. Washington via Tuckerman Ravine Trail - Aug 7, 2010

Nice TR. We hiked Washington via Ammonoosuc and Crawford Trail up then down Gulfside to the Jewell Trail down the weekend before. It's been some beautiful hiking weather, that's for sure. It's amazing how many people are at the top when we get up there, between hikers, the Cog, and people...

    Lunch in Portland MAine

You could always try this place, it's fairly pricey and decent food: http://rira.com/ On the waterfront in Portland's Old Port area, it's Irish food or there's always the old standby Italian and seafood down the road from Ri Ra's, DiMillo's Floating Restaurant, or another nice place is Fore...

    Bradbury State Park 5/17

WOW, who'da thunk......Haven't been to Bradbury Mtn in years.....We'd "hike"(if you want to call it that) up it, but never thought to ride bikes out there..... it's such a small mtn. A few nice views up there though.

    Radio for hiking/backpacking

Most interesting thread here. I often wondered the same thing. We now have a Delorme GPS, not that would be able to contact anyone, but also have a couple of two way radios of which I keep thinking that we should bring them on our hiking trips. Then comes the question of how much stuff is too...

    Ski Thefts at Gunstock

I agree...anything that I buy of importance to me, I'm buying a lock. Guess that also goes with growing in in a city, well if you want to call South Portland/Portland a city.....anyways I've always bought locks for my bikes, recently my skis, since they do cost a lot of money. I'd be pretty...

    On slope collisions

Okay, guess I have to say something here....as Deadheadskier has noticed(or maybe not), I'm not a fast skier, although at times I feel I am....depends who I'm skiing with. Definately not with Deadhead.....LOL... Anyways I came down after the fact and wondered what happened, didn't see the...

34 and feeling to old to ski anymore

I'll be 54 this year and still skiing. I won't give it up, if I don't have to. I'll never grow up, I'll never grow old, just my body will.....;)

    Sugarloaf and Saddleback

Well, he was close to what I was referring to as teeth rattling. I thought the part that was teeth rattling was the Tote Road Ext., after that it was pretty crunchy, but edgable. As the day wore on things did soften up a bit, but we never went back up the Timberline Quad, that was waayy too slow...

    Stretches before skiing
