    The NEW Magic Mountain

“But the snowmaking pond is back in shape and will be ready to start snowmaking in early November when the first cold snap hits for an early season opening.” Biggest news in there. They really need to be open earlier and have more terrain open the holiday week in order to be a serious player...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Blue gentian is still going strong. Dostals, at this point, is uninhabitable. I imagine it would be cheaper to tear it down than refurbish. Last I heard, it is owned by the same person as timberside. I imagine once Magic has a good season or two something will come of it now that the black lift...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Skiing was amazing this weekend. All pictures taken Saturday afternoon. Best weekend out east I have had in a while. Skied black magic first thing Saturday morning and it was the best I remember in a decade. Quickly looked like it got skied off, but that first run was great. Talisman skied great...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Mountain weather is saying 18” at the base and 30”+ up top at Stratton. Slightly less at Okemo. Fingers crossed!

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Families with young kids that are the bread and butter of the mountain would love it. Not realistic at this point in time, but it would be great. It’s not so much about loading as the terrain. First few hundred yards in either direction off of green are probably the hardest “easiest way...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Obviously! But ideally, a lift would be much better. How much would a short lift cost to install? I have no idea.

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Beyond snowmaking and trail repair, they need a real beginners chairlift in the learning area. Any idea how much that would cost? Used double or triple, maybe six towers, should be easy, right? I say that very tongue in cheek. Big weekend for them and so happy they finally got the quad up and...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

My expectation is that the quad, green and red will run Christmas through mid-March every weekend. Beyond that, maybe it runs powder days midweek, but I wouldn’t count on it. It only makes sense to run the quad if green is also running.

Extreme Snowboard Carving Serious Safety and Skiing Community issue

Code says you are in the wrong and it is hard to argue that. I also have nothing against someone ripping big turns down a trail. That said, common sense should dictate. You shouldn’t do that on a crowded trail. Likewise, if you are going straight and suddenly decide to start carving back and...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

They will need to make snow basically from broomstick to talisman in order to get wizard in acceptable shape for the masses. The runout needs a similar amount of work. It was ROUGH last weekend.

    The NEW Magic Mountain

So, wrong on both accounts. Work days scheduled and Pictures of red spinning today. I suspect that I know what you are referring to, but, obviously couldn’t have been that big of a deal.

    The NEW Magic Mountain

The official story is that this is the soonest they could get Pjister in to do the work. They are beholden to the contractor’s schedule. I have no reason to believe otherwise.

Indy Pass goes off sale 4-10-23 (sold out)

Magic would often sell out of Indy reservations. I would imagine Indy probably wants to prevent that from regularly happening, hence the limits. Is there such a thing as a mid-week Indy pass?

I mean, it could be worse.

    The NEW Magic Mountain

The 30 minute lines are pretty much exclusively after a big snow. Not their fault that everyone realizes it’s the best place to ski after a storm and I certainly don’t fault them for paying the bills. I mean, I guess they could cut ticket sales (or van Indy pass) and double the price on powder...
