Corporate probably want to fire some people but corporate Ain't exactly in a position to fire any help in the mwv. Here's to hoping this is the beginning of the end.

Really a shame what's going on at Attitash and Wildcat. I've skied them both. I have three visits of a day or two each at Wildcat, first back in the '90s. When folks ask me my favorite ski areas in the East, I always mention Wildcat in the conversation. I like the flow of the trails, I liked the old vibe of the place, and the scenery on a sunny day is among the most awesome in the East.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, language below from Passenger Tramway Safety Board minutes in January. Does not mention specific lift but all lifts mentioned, including flying bear, are late 90s dopp HSDQ.

Thirdly, Briggs mentioned a 4-passenger chair bale that recently broke. There were five lifts identified in NH; Loon, Waterville, Attitash, Wildcat, and Cranmore that were notified of the incident. They are aware and continue to do visual inspections. Briggs added they are all on board with the original instructions.

So would annual/regular NDT catch something like this? I know that the protocol is to rotate grips for NDT. I would have thought that this one would have been tested in the last four years or so.
Should, I believe every grip has to rotate thru NDT tests every 4 years. But it is definitely possible this particular grip passed 3 years ago and was due to go for NDT this summer. Still, with the grip force stops and the beach marks, this should have been able to be caught prior to failure NDT or not.

Can you imagine if NH Tramway shuts them down...
That is very a likely possibility, if they cannot produce the required lift Maintenace docs/records...
Everyone of us who was there over the last few years certainly knows the dirty truth.

I know 2 MWV attorneys who are already involved, so YES, it is definitely gonna cost them....

Vail could start with a no cell phone use in the lift shack policy.

Sensation top op (Stowe) has had her head in her phone all morning, never looking up.

My wife and I were just talking about this a few weeks ago & I mentioned I'm surprised they're allowed to have cell phones, especially since most liftees are Gen Z & incapable of survival without social media. So often I see them completely buried in their phone and not even looking at the unload area.

The Attitash Comm lines are trashed.
Many shacks don't have top-bottom phone. In fact many of the on mountain phones haven't worked in several years.
So yes, Lifties have to use cell phones....

This is exactly the sort of thing I was referring to pre-season when I mentioned I was alarmed how much stuff isn't being addressed, like broken fixtures or toilet roll holders, graffiti not quickly addressed, lifts not painted in years, myriad clocks displaying incorrect time, etc... and how when you see a bunch of small things like that that seemingly are trivial, it can actually be indicative of larger problems. Either management incompetence, lack of money, refusal to spend money, or perhaps some of all-of-the-above.
