The video is interesting. According to the presenter, the plane was probably trying to pack down the snow so it could land without getting stuck, and then it had to take off straight down the fall line, i.e. through the line of skiers, because it was at 13K feet which is close to its operational ceiling. But the pilot should have realized this would be an issue and not attempted the maneuver in the first place.
