The owner of black is really pissing off the town of Jackson. They are going to make things hard on him. Jackson is a very uptight town with a lot of money. The longtime farm neighbor hates black now too. You have to try to work with the locals instead of saying fuck you I’ll do what I want. When a skier dies after drinking too much, maybe dont have a whiskey tasting the next day you’re open. I bet the access road is the last road plowed in Jackson next winter. This is going to get ugly

Maybe the owner is that way because he is trying to save a ski area that for all intents and purposes, is dwarfed by all its regional competition. Apparently the town doesn't need that business enterprise as a going concern. I agree it could very well get ugly, and if it does it will be unfortunate. Perhaps it wasn't the former owner killing the area after all.

The former owner did have a reputation of being a hot head. So, perhaps there's a longer history between the ski resort and town.

But the fact that the police department is withholding complaint records is pretty poor form and does make one wonder if there were legitimate complaints by neighbors during the party or the police chief just not wanting to deal with those types of events.

Or, maybe there are indeed liquor license investigations going on. They had a guy literally die on the mountain from drinking to much then skiing and Erik brags about being the Director of Champagne. That is going to get a close look by authorities 10 times out of 10.

Erik needs to learn when to shut the fuck up and play ball. He is creating a mountain out of a molehill.

Jackson is NOT the problem.
Both The Chief and Eric have issues...

Many have already had issues w/ chief Perley.
I don't think he'll be around much longer...

This one is from last week. Instead of just moving the offending sign from town property, blacks owner moved it across the street which is still town property. The old owner was a hot head but he was a good neighbor and didn’t make waves with the town. The new owner knows how to market a ski area but is pissing off the town in the process. Every Saturday night during the ski season, there will be now a sheriff parked right outside the ski area pulling over drunk people.

The "longtime farm neighbor" spat is nothing new. Go back and look at the trail name changes made by previous ownership, in particular around the Platter. They were made for a reason.

New ownership needs to learn to be a good neighbor. The town needs to realize that sleepy Black with 12 cars in the lot that is dead by 4pm is not going to pay the bills and thus taxes. Most importantly calmer heads need to prevail on both sides. Egos kill.

Does the town (govt) really care? Black goes tits up its gets sold off into mountain home lots. That probably results in a better tax base for the Town.

The town has many more levers to pull than Erik does. He needs to realize that the opinion of a customer (aka us on this board) that doesn't live in Jackson has zero say in these fights but he seems to think that Indy passholders that don't live there being satisfied will allow him to win.

Not to mention that very weekend, Black re-posted a story on their IG account of a patron drinking (presumably) their own beer on the double as they went past the cabin. I sent it to my brother noting it was deeply tone deaf. He reminded me that drinking on the lift is also illegal. Definitely not something to broadcast, or worse, tacitly promote.

Not illegal per se, but goes against the liquor license, which is obviously not good and why BYOB is frowned upon. For places like Black that rely heavily on F&B for revenue, a loss of that license would be catastrophic.

"... Chief Perley should be in jail for assaulting me, slandering me, and lying under oath on several occasions. He was asked to resign from Conway PD and then came to Jackson PD where he then began harassing me, threatening me. All he will ever amount to in life is a bully who assaulted a woman and got away with it."

People driving drunk deserve to be pulled over and locked up.
