Wasn't it reported as an investment rather than an outright acquisition?

My sense is that they acquired somewhere between 20-50% of HKD since HKD mgmt will run the show and be the only brand they go-to-market with in North America. It has all the hallmarks of an equity investment that's greater than 20% (and therefore gives HTI some level of influence as opposed to being a passive investment) but less than 50%, in which case we likely would have seen more substantial changes on the HKD side.

"Investment" as you likely know is often nuanced. I am being told it is more than 50% and the concession of the transaction is Demac folds into HKD and not vice versa and HKD keeps their management group intact (plus the one HTI seat). Regardless, I am good with the admin's changing the title from buys to Invests in!
