Great actor of course but also founder of Sundance and the ski area of the same name in Utah. Only skied there once as it wasn't really easy to get to from the condo in Cottonwood Heights. Little bit of jaded experience in that it was a cloudy day with some flat light so I probably didn't really get to focus on what was really there. Remember thinking the base area was a little strange but can't remember why.

The man. The legend. The Sundance Kid.

As the OP said, he bought a tiny ski area named Timphaven that was next to his vacation home outside of Provo, Utah. The owners of Timphaven had just announced plans to build a massive expansion and Mr. Redford opposed it, so he bought it and renamed it Sundance and the rest is history. It is worth a visit on a good day.

As most of you know, about four years ago he sold the ski area to a group of developers. The new owners have largely followed Mr. Redford's wishes in terms of keeping it a low-key kind of place but they have signficantly invested on improvements to the ski area including several new lifts.

FWIW he has kept a very low profile the last four years or so. I have to wonder if he was sick. He has not even been to the Sundance Festival that, yes, he started. He did a lot for Utah and skiing.

We stayed at Sundance 4 summers ago and hiked the mountain a couple of days. The property is beautiful, Robert Redford and his team did a wonderful job building that whole area up over the years. Would love to go back someday, rest in peace...

I’m trying to think if I’ve seen two lift towers so close together like that but not remembering. Sometimes I’m not so observant though.

Sundance is an amazing little gem with some excellent terrain up high when the base is in. He created a nice little oasis there.

I should call my mother she was absolutely crushing on him since the beginning of time.

IIRC. One of the chairs went over a rise and down the other side before rising up again. Maybe that’s what you are seeing
We’re looking at the same pic, right? It looks to me like those towers are 15-20 feet apart max. Could be an optical illusion though.

I also got this interesting shot on our hike to Stewart Falls which is a well known trail at the resort. If you look closely there is a guy repelling down the waterfall which was absolutely crazy! In any event Sundance is such a special place...

Me too, I didn't even realize the towers were that close until it was mentioned here. I just liked the photo.
