I would like to ask how many skiers are nearsighted?

Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable to ski with regular glasses? My ears usually get pinched between the helmet and the temple arms of the glasses, and they start to hurt after a while.
61 years old. 20/20, blue eyes I can see at night as well as most, except from those north - way North.

I used to ski with single vision contacts which worked great ... while I was skiing.

However, my eyes tended to get dry so I would have to take them out at lunch to re-moisturize. Also since single vision was all i could afford when I was working to read a menu required that I used "readers".

Since 2018, being forced into retirement I have reverted to skiing with OTG goggles. My glasses do fog a little but with proper ventilation they clear up fine.

I looked into contacts designed for astigmatism but, as I said they were very expensive. Inserts were less expensive than contacts but when you go into the lodge you take them off and have to put your glasses back on. Skiing with glasses in my parka is problematic in itself.

So, how do I manage? It's simple. Put your googles on before going outside. That keeps them warm. It's when they get cold and you put your goggles on its like walking into a building ... they fog. So keep them warm. Also proper fit is essential for good ventilation.

If your glasses are hurting your ears get different glasses that don't have thick ear pieces. Sports glasses are available with straps like goggles.

Thank you for your help, but this one is too expensive. I was at the ski resort yesterday, and a fellow skier shared an insert with me—it seems to have more features than this one. For example, it lets you adjust the height of the frame to match your proper pupil height. I thought its quality was really good and the price was reasonable, so I’ve already ordered it. Do you want me to share it with you? But I’m not sure if that’s allowed on the forum; it might be considered spam or an advertisement.

I don't really understand how the height is adjustable. If they're sized properly to begin with, they should fill the majority of your goggles with virtually no room to move up/down.

You're free to share here though...

Please share. I've thought about doing something like this as my vision keeps getting worse with age and I can't fathom getting contacts in/out of my eyes.
