We notice West Mountain each time we go to Vermont to ski. has anyone skied there? The online website makes it look like you should buy your lift tickets 2 weeks out? How much more are mid-week tickets the day-of or the day before?

No idea what amount ticket prices change but its a decent enough mountain to spend a few hours at. I wouldn’t go out of my way for a trip there though. When I was living back east I only went a handful of times, never had a bad time but it was mostly for night skiing when it was dumping out. Theres some fun woods trails but most of the mountain is straight down the fall line kind of like Jiminy.

I used an Indy Pass day there on my way up I-87 for a Gore trip. Its a cool place for a day. Some nice terrain but short vert. It felt like a Poconos resort if you've ever been there. I don't recall lift lines being a problem even on a Saturday. You'll have a fun few hours. If you have to buy tickets, go a little further to Gore. Much bigger and some legit terrain. or even better, there's Whiteface.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for West as its where I rode my 1st chairlift in 1980 and was my home mountain most years from 4th grade through my Sr year of high-school. Probably have 150 days or so logged there back in the day, and the current owner for the last 7 or 8 yrs now is someone I raced against in Highschool.

They make a bunch of snow these days, there 3 core lifts are relatively new and/or refurbished fixed grips (their summit triple in its previous lift was the summit triple at the Hermitage Club before they installed their bubble six), and have a very high level race program/academy there. Terrain wise, if you've got a pair of skis with a 20-25m radius ski cut that like arcing on groomed snow down moderate pitched terrain of decent width, then you'll find some laps at West fun. And its one of the most accessible ski areas in the Northeast being maybe 5 minutes off of I-87

I also plan on hitting West for the first time ever after years of seeing it from the highway. Did I see at one time that their hours are a little different from most ski areas? Thought I read that opening there was like 10 or 11 at certain times.
