I guess the State legislature is going to wait until there’s a major impact before acting? Feel sorry for all those businesses.

I heard recently that here in VT ski area insurance is 3 times the cost from 2017, and it doesn’t seem to be flattening out.

We saw something similar (though at the federal level by its nature) in aviation back late in the past century. For a decade or so, no manufacturer built certified single engine, piston aircraft in the US (unless they were non certified, owner built experimental). Why?? Liability on the manufacturer was out of control and they were getting huge judgements against them when it wasn't even the aircraft's fault for accidents. It wasn't until the aviation reform bill passed the US Congress and signed into law that Cessna, Piper and Cirrus started to manufacture single engine aircraft again.

This is what some states like Oregon are heading for. All outdoor recreation companies (not just ski resorts, think rafting companies, mountain biking areas outside ski resorts, etc) shutting down due to either astronomical liability insurance prices or inability altogether of obtaining it at even those prices. Sometimes mother nature has a hand in this type of insurance situation (think Florida/New Orleans from hurricanes, California from forest fires) but in this case, nature isn't at play. Just a states elected leaders not acting. Rough...
