It certainly would make sense to drag some hose onto it from the top of Outpost, and Freefall to get some cover so folks can cut across when Challenger isn't running for sure. I have gone down Sunbrook before because I didnt want to slog it back to the summit.
Pretty sure that the natural falling today will be enough to get that connector part of Skyeline from the top of Outpost over to the top of Freefall open, as well as a few other flat, mainly natural snow, connector trails around the mountain as well. Sometimes those flat connector trails end up being way more important for flow around the mountain than folks realize

a December snow day with no wind, no ice and comfy temps.

Heavy Metal - delayed opening
Discover - delayed open - "closed for the day" at 11am, reopens at 11:30 - not that I care bout this lift but what does it tell you
Bluebird starts the day on hold - never opens - maintenance
Cannot get Grand Summit running
Cannot get Sundance 6 running
summit route is Canyon Ex to Outpost

but yeah - the connecting trails likely got enough natural snow to open some of them. Thats exactly what I was wishing for. Thanks

pretty good Sat. Seasonal groups started in earnest - so lots kids out - all looked happy to be out - brings a new / fun vibe to the Mt but does mix with lift lines.
Conditions VG. Vail does need to train the Bluebird crew and remind them it holds 6 people. Cars going up with less then 6 almost every time this morning caused the singles que lines (4 of them) out back towards Canyon lift. Moved on to Sundance 6 which ran at 1/2 speed most all morning - why ? . Northface was where to be. Laps over there for me rest of morning. Challenger & BoulderPile naturals open. Back on MF, Hop ready to open but roped all morning - maybe they opened later ?

Cool view of Somerset Res - open water hole in the middle

Getting good. The perpetual flury the last few days + the cold, dry air has the snow surface very good. Ropes on naturals starting to drop in greater numbers (a "fluffy" as one of my good friends described it Yardsale was definitely fun this afternoon) and snowmaking is still hammering for more expansion. A quality early season happening thus far

Worst kept secret in the Valley was issues with Challenger lift on NF. Pretty much every lift ride I had, involved a conversation around that lift. So much so, that when Grand Summit wasn't running, the rumor mill xfered over to that lift . Now we know, officially, Challenger is challenged. F-off all you vail apologists. When do we find out about GSE?

Classic vail. They probably knew about that issue for a long time too but chose not to do anything about it hoping to ride it out and save money but now have no choice. GSE is probably f'ed too, that lift has been nothing but issues going back to it's Yan/ Yankee slipper days.

The Peak Resort days were nice at Mount Snow when you actually got open and honest communication

Maybe that specialized engineer would be easier to find if you invested in your lift ops team and they were already a member of your staff.

was at Mount snow yesterday. I thought the conditions were fine, but not nearly as good as Stowe the day before ( I knew this would be the case) and Okemo last Friday.

Did find some nice natural snow on Uncles.

They did just announce a new Director of Mountain Operations on the 8th, sounds like she has a lot of experience in lift maintenance. From Facebook...

We’re thrilled to welcome Brooke Kasman as our new Senior Director of Mountain Operations!
Brooke is excited to return to Vermont and reconnect with the mountains that have shaped her career. She began her ski industry journey in 2000 at Sugarbush Resort as a Lift Operator, spent 14 years at Stowe Mountain Resort as a Ski Lift Mechanic, served as the Director of Lift Maintenance at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, and most recently, Brooke was the Director of Mountain Operations at Hunter Mountain, where she led the installation of two new lifts and 108 automated HKD snow guns that transformed the guest experience.
Outside of work, Brooke loves being outdoors and staying active. You can often find her walking her dog Sequoia, skinning, telemark skiing, hiking, riding mountain bikes, traveling, and spending time with family. Lately, she’s also taken up powerlifting as a fun new challenge.
Help us give Brooke a warm welcome back to Vermont and say hi if you see her on the slopes!
