Had a nice day of skiing on Christmas eve at Bretton Woods today. They got about 4" of fresh powder overnight, so for most of the morning there were a lot of powder stashes to find. Quite a few trails were left ungroomed or just groomed on one side. Temps were ideal in the low 20's, but the sky was overcast with a small amount of snow falling off and on. I took my first run with my normal 97 width skis but after seeing all the powder I switched to my 106's and that was more fun. The crowd was small and the lifts were walk on all day. Only downer was they didn't open a lot of trails, so I guess they are saving them for the holiday week.
I tried out the new replacement for the Bethlehem quad (the BEQII), and the seats and foot rests are more comfortable, but the speed is still slow and otherwise seems the same as the old lift. By the afternoon the powder was mostly used up on the open trails, and under the powder there were some icy patches that got scraped off, but those were pretty easy to avoid. They don't have a deep base on many of the trails, and I had a couple rock scrapes, but nothing too bad.
