Belle got 2-3" of fresh, more in places depending on the wind. The skiing was excellent from 9-11, fresh tracks to be had a plenty. There was also a ton of snowmaking going on. Deer Run was closed for a good blasting. Yahoo had the guns on top to bottom. And man was it cold and windy. Skied until 2 and called it. Trails got scraped and icy in spots. Skiing under the guns was good when you could see but light got flat as usual by 2.

1) Park City (Canyons) - holy hell it's terrible, but kid's clinics start this weekend & wanted to get the little a day on snow prior
2) Park City (Canyons) - the first legitimate east coast conditions I've experienced in Utah. Brought back memories

How was Tenney? Another place I'm interested in checking out on the Indy when I need a quick day trip.

Jay skied very nice Saturday but it was damn cold. I called it at 1230 and I never do that.

I’m at Stratton now. Groomers in great shape, powder on ungroomed sides. Woods are quite bony but skiable. Major difference to up north. The snowpack up north is in serious shape.

Day 11 today. Its been a good start

Empty today for a Sunday, guess the FIS prepped runs scared most away. Skied better with less crowds early. Hearing some financial constraints from Boyne this year, will be interesting to see how Snowmaking recovers go moving forward. With luck, won't really be needed!

First trip back to Sugarloaf. One of the coldest days I’ve skied. Didn’t get out till 11 once the Superquad opened. Even then, it was just a few runs before needing a warmup break. Rinse and repeat that till about 3 before quitting for the day. Snow was surprisingly good. Sluice especially was the trail of the day. Afterwards, we stayed to watch The Rigometrics play at the Widowmaker. Awesome show.

I’ve been to Burke before and to be fair to the mountain it wasn’t the best day. It was cold, and a cloud kind of wrapped around the upper mountain and dropped visibility which made it very hard to ski on trails I don’t know and invisible patches of ice. Wife wasn’t feeling it either and quit early. The bottom skied nice though. Last time I was there my son and I hit up East Bowl and had a blast. Took my sentimental ride on the J Bar.

Funny I read your dissertation on Burke the night before we went.
